On the morning of June 25th, 1876, the 611 men of the 7th Cavalry of the United States Army, under the command of General George Armstrong Custer, attacked the Lakota and Northern Cheyenne Indians camped at the Little Bighorn river valley in the Montana Territory. Custer and his soldiers where defeated in battle and killed to a man by plains indians under the spiritual leadership of the Lakota Sioux Chief, Sitting Bull.
