Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen (The Red Baron) was killed just after 11 a.m. on April 21, 1918. He died after being struck by a single .303 bullet, while flying over the Morlancourt Ridge region of the Western Front. During his career as a pilot and squadron commander The Red Baron achieved over 70 air victories.
